*Night
I was safe
for the time. That is, from the soulless. No one can protect me from what even
they can’t see or understand. A guy among the group Mike brought out named
Danny treated some large cuts that I didn’t even notice I had.
*Morning
Before we
made our way back, I went in search of the wagon full of equipment I left
behind without anyone knowing. It was a five-minute walk to find and bring it
to the building. After having risked my life for it once, I wasn’t about to
just leave it behind. I felt tired and weak (I barely made the walk back
without passing out). The others may say differently, but I don’t need rest; I
need answers or at least someone to talk with about what’s been going on. Does
the base have a psychiatrist? Anyway, we’re heading back.
*Return to Base
I slept
most of the way back. There were a few bumps in the road, but no real danger.
The doctor examined me and in his own words, said “You look like a dummy after
a car crash test”. How comforting that I know I look so well (sarcasm). At most,
I had a few cracked ribs. Nothing serious. Afterword, I went to see Mike and
told him about “Project Nuke”. All I got was a bunch of “if’s”. If we had the
material, if the men feel like it. I wish everyone would stop thinking of just
survival. What’s the point of living for tomorrow if there is nothing to live
for? My life’s goal is not to survive; it’s to help others or the world. It may
sound corny or over-ambience and it will be a lot of work, but was good thing
doesn’t require work? If they’re not willing to help now, I’ll continue the
plan on my own.
Afterward,
Mike asked about Ann. I really hoped he wouldn’t press the subject or try to
find her. I was relieved when he started talking about the defense plan against
the Valors. It was okay. I hope the Valors won’t attack because it spells death
no matter how you look at it. I also found a small flaw in the plan; with our
walls and artillery, we could certainly keep them out, but what’s stopping them
from keeping us in and starving us? Or what if they set the outer wall on fire?
If the Valors were to attack us, would it be to acquire a new base or for
revenge; each motive gives a settle indication of what lengths they’re willing
to go through to win. Mike could see I wasn’t excited about the plans so he left.
*Evening
I’ve begun
reading the books I brought back. I’ve learned a few new ways of making
explosives cheaply. However, with the lack of participation, Project Nuke is undergoing some changes. It isn’t necessary for me to blow up the soulless; only to
kill them. Whether it happens slowly or quickly, that is the main goal. With a
loud sound (more tests need to be done to find the noise to attract soulless),
I could lure them into a trap; perhaps a large hole. I may not even need to dig
one. There are bound to be construction sites and large crevices. Once I have
them trapped, one of the best forms of execution is fire. Unlike explosions,
fire spreads and will burn them until they are a pile of ashes. Human skin
isn’t flammable by nature, but the rotting, dry skin of soulless may be more
likely to catch flame. With that note, the plan will now be called Project
Inferno. It even sounds cooler.
*Night
While
drawing up possible plans and trying to recall a place that had a large crevice
of some sort, a young man in the distance snuck into one of the storage
buildings. I was outside at the time near the front gate. I took out a small
pair of binoculars and saw he carrying something (it was too dark to tell what
it was, but it was box shaped and could be held in one hand). There’s no rule
that says he can’t sneak around at night, but it is suspicious. I’m going to go
check it out right now. If he doing anything dangerous to the base, I’m tying
him up and reporting him to Mike.
