Mike's Diary Day 75 - Is this the end? Season 2 Finale.

*Early Morning*

I woke up, and found out that everyone was already with their weapons and their battle gear ready to attack the Valors. I saw Jack with his sniper, and he told me that he preferred to be the sniper, and he'll be the one that would protect, well tried to protect the others from a hill or building behind the valor's base (whatever suited him). I told him that he would need a partner/spotter, but most of the people preferred to go into the battle field with Moses and I. I saw Julie and Jess. JULIE AND JESS?! I thought. What the hell ? Why are they going ? I told Julie that she should not go, but she insisted, and brought up the deal again. If I go, she goes with me (I don't remember that part, but she fooled me already.) The battlefield was too rough for Julie, so I told Julie to be Jack's spotter. She was disappointed, but it's for her own safety.

I divided the group into 3 different groups. 10 people in each, 2 medics in each team. My group and I will storm the front. Moses's will go from the right wing, Victor's group penetrates the west wing. The south wing, well I had that planned out. Jack, probably one of the best snipers, with Julie and the twins covered the south just in case.

*Before the attack*

Jack ran down from his post, signaled me to cancel the attack. He was panicked, and apparently saw the Valors bringing some re-inforcements. I came up with a whole new strategy. This time, it'll be stealthy, but I'm really doubting Jack. Well, you gotta try to trust others to survive right? The plan was simple. We in the back of the hill, and every time we see someone, Jack fires the sniper that already has a silencer installed. Simple enough? Well, 3 valors went down, but soon we were spotted. We were forced to retreat back to the base. This was the most dangerous situation that our group has gotten in. We waited in the base, I was trying to figure something out. To actually defend the base. We will defend the base, and hold it in one condition. Too many blood sheds in our group, we're retreating. Everyone agreed, including Jack.

*2 Hours later*
I was sitting in my room, drawing diagrams to defend the base as best as we could, when I heard a yell from the outside. "Give the girl, or we'll destroy you." I froze, sweat dripped down my chin. I got up, met Moses and Jack, opened the door, and saw the biggest, baddest, most disgusting, horrible monster. The smell of the rotten flesh was unbearable, we all froze thinking what was there to do.

To be continued...

Mike's Diary Day 71 - Best Inventions Come At the Worst Era

*Morning*
I woke up earlier than usual today. Took a little walk around the base (not too far this time). After a good 30 to 35minutes or so, I decided to go back into the gate, but then I saw Jack, so I followed him. He headed towards the weaponry storage, then to his work-bench which he later used to fiddle around with his new project. He did some target practice, and it was impressive. Not so much noise created from that thing, but it has still some weaknesses. I surprised him, he turned around and almost press the trigger, but he didn't. I told him that his innovation is pretty impressive, but he works more than he rests, so I told him to catch a break sometimes.
*Afternoon*
I was fiddling and doodling around on my sketch book (originally trying to come up with a battle plan, but nothing just comes in today). Instead, I was sketching soe architectural stuff that I think would be really cool if we make one. After hours, I finnally got it. A vertical farming method. We build an opened building without ceilings, only stairs and 5 floors of dirt (not tiles) so we can plant stuff on, without wasting our backyard space. It will take at least 3 men to do this, so I assigned the twins and Victor to do the construction (Victor was a bachelor graduate in engineering). After we finished some calculations, it came down to a conclusion that it'll take 1 week to make it with 3 men, and we are short on wood (I need to work on that). We took a break, and this was when Julie nwas reported missinh.
*Evening*
I spent the rest of the evening trying to look for Julie. Finally decided to get Jack and Victor to come with me to the city to find Julie. Long story short, we met Julie at an arcade. I don't know why she went there. She said that she wished everything was working like it used to because she misses the old games. Then we went "shopping", she was really happy. Never seen that happy face anywhere else before. We got tp the dolls and girly stuff and I clerly remember what she said "Man, that's gay." Anyways, later I told her not to travel alone again (ironically). She made a deal with me that she won't do with unless I do it again. "Jack? Victor? back me up here? well fuck you guys." I said. Clearly they agreed and support the deal. hmmmm what can I do right?
We proceeded our way back to the base, and during the trip, I askwd Jack about Ann. Where she is and all, and Jack looked disturbed by those questions. Crazy thought, Jack killed her? but why? Anyways,we spent the rest of the trip with silence.
*Night*
We arrived at base, had some dinner. beans today just FYI. It tasted pretty good I'd say, well then again, everything is good when ypur food shortage is kinda low. Jack seemed morebothered than before, fiddling around with his invention, his work is more sloppy this time, so I told him to get a major break (maybe he's boyhered by my questions aout Ann.) We're in front of a fireplace. Julie, Jess, Victor and I. Jess and Victor are playing cards, whereas Julie is busy reading the comic books that she has found at the arcade. I'm exhausted because I haven't recovered fully from the gun shot wounds. I'm gonna get some rest now.

Mike's Diary Day 68 - Where were we? Oh right.

Okay where were we? It's been along time, since I haven't written down anything on my journal (only 1 day). Yesterday, it took me a long time to plan our strategies in case the valors come unexpectedly, but no worries, I'm almost done.

I woke up this morning. Well, Moses woke me up. He asked me where Jack is, and I told him that I don't know and that I'm going to find him today with the other search parties. I got off of my bed, headed directly to the washroom, washed my face, and looked into the mirror. I stared on my own reflection for a good 5 minutes. The water was dripping down my face, my eyes look weary. Why us? Why ? I'd rather be living in my life several months ago before this thing all started. I'd rather play video games about a post-apocalpytic era than being in one. I stopped staring, dried my face with my towel, and headed outside. First thing first, eat! I haven't eaten a full meal since I don't know how long ago. I walked towards the kitchen, and there Victor and Jess were cooking breakfast.

Smelled really good to be honest. What was it you asked? It was squirrel. Yes, in this age of desperation, we eat what we can get. I didn't want to eat it, but it's better than starve yourself to your death, so I ate it. Tasted like rabbit meat, a bit tough to chew though, but other than that, it filled me up for the rest of the afternoon. After I ate, I gathered five people to go with me in a search for Jack (Julie is one of them). I gave each one of them a gun, and a blunt weapon, and I told them that we should NEVER use guns on craze unless we are cornered. They nodded, though I'm still worried that one of them will chickened out and pull out his gun and fires. Anyways, off we went to find Jack.

We were in a truck. Well, they were in a truck, whereas Julie and I were on the motorcycle that we found yesterday, just before we got back to base. It's a great experience to ride one actually. Feels like nothing I've ever felt before. The wind breeze hitting on my face, and also the adrenaline rush when you accelerate fast enough that it can no longer go much faster. Anyways, enough with that motorcycle riding experience. During the trip, the first place that I thought of was the city that we were just in yesterday. That's where most of the supplies are, and if he goes somewhere far and deep into the jungle, Jack is not so smart after all. We arrived at the city, and didn't know what to do. If we scream, or yell, craze will come, and it'll also attract bastards like the valors. After a while, we decided to shoot a flare up into the air hoping that Jack is not more than 5 miles away from our location. After firing the first flare, we proceeded our way up to a building's roof, where it's nearly impossible for craze to go up there. I've set up two sniper posts, Danny was on the left, and his twin Daniel was on the right. We camped there, just in case if Jack sees the flare, he could possibly notice that we're looking for him.

Boom, the second flare went off 2 hours after the first one, and still nothing. I don't know where he is, but we only have 3 flares left for him to see. The night is approaching, more and more craze are coming out, so obviously we don't want to risk our lives by going down there and going back to the base. The best thing that we can do now is wait and hope for the best. If Jack isn't anywhere near us, we will proceed our way, possibly to the next city, which is only 25 minutes of bike ride. With that said, it's my turn now to watch the base on the sniper post. Julie is going to accompany me on the other side (I doubt she can use that sniper rifle, but oh well.)

Mike's Diary, Day 64 - The Struggle

I was awoken from my sleep this morning to bird-calls. I looked to my right, Julie was still sleeping and tied to the tree. I woke her up
"Good morning Julie." I said to her
"Morning. Don't we need to go back to base?"
"Yeah, I'll walk you, then I'll go off on my way again."
           "Why?" She asked
           "The base needs some supplies."
"4 eyes are better than 1. I'm not leaving you."
I looked at her and nodded. We untied ourselves, and we proceed our way down the tree. I packed the rope, so did Julie. I led the way into the suburbs with her, for the whole trip it was quite, until there's a horde. I could see from a distant that the stores are near, but there were too many craze around. It was too dangerous. I ducked down, and told Julie to do so too. We sneaked around the horde, through a small alley way. There was only one door, but it's locked. Julie poked me from the back
"Mike, are you sure we're safe?"
"As long as we don't make a loud noise." I responded
I tried to break the lock open, but it was almost impossible without beating it with my crowbar. Instead, I decided to distract the horde first.
"Here Mike, boost me up." Julie whispered to me.
            "What? Why?"
"So I can distract them. I'm going to throw something to the other direction so you can open the                     door."
"Are you sure you wanna do this?" I asked.
"Yes, hurry." She answered. I boosted her up the wall, and I ducked back down.
             "Be careful." I said
             "Huh, when am I not?"
She got up to the roof and threw bottles in the other direction. The horde followed. Once Julie gave a a signal, I started beating on the lock. I struggled, but eventually I opened the door. I told Julie to come down, I pushed a garbage bin towards the wall so she could step down and get off of the roof, when I was about to go in, Julie yelled.
"Mike! Behind you!" I looked back, and the craze was already on top of me.I held it's had with my strength, using one hand, and using the other to grab my knife from my back pocket, but before I did so, Julie was already on its back and stabbing it's head and neck with her shank.
"Should've stayed up the roof." I said
"You almost got your ass eaten." She responded with attitude. Now that her scream has alerted the horde, they were rushing towards us, screaming. I went inside the room with Julie, closed the door and blocked it with whatever heavy furniture that the house had.We were panicking, Julie and I were trying to figure a way out when I remembered that I still have those molotovs. However, there's no chance for me to use it since we were surrounded by the horde. I looked at Julie
"There's only one way." I said
              "I'm not leaving you."
"No. I'm leaving you." I said again. I gave my uzi to her, and extra ammo.
"You must wait here. I'll take the molotovs with me and distract them. I'll come back for you." I said.
"You know I only have one hand right?" Julie said while smiling at me
"Yeah, I'll come back." I chucked with her. I walked towards the window, took a double take on Julie, then she said something.
"Mike, be careful." I think she was about to cry, I nodded. I opened the window, went outside and told Julie to lock the window again. I ran while screaming to lure the horde. Man, they were fast. I ran for at least 10 minutes, and they were still following me. I looked back, and I threw my first molotov. BOOM, set them in flames. I continued running, just to encountered more of them. I decided  to go inside a building and threw my last molotov, and I disappeared from the horde's sight. I went to the second building, the house which Julie is in is visible from my floor, and I could see Julie from there. I went outside to the roof in the evening trying to signal here that I was fine, but she didn't notice me. There were only five craze left downstairs (approximately). If I could be stealth enough, I could kill them and get out of here as soon as possible, I thought to myself. I started to make my way downstairs, every step was my chance of survival. I ducked down once I got to the bottom floor. It's weird, in the evening, some of them just stood there, especially when there's no light. They looked like someone who stand sleeping. I approached the first craze near the stairs, stabbed it right in the head twice with my knife, and the rest didn't react. I was confused for a second, maybe there are different species of mutants? I don't know. I didn't take any chances. I opened the door and ran back to where Julie is. Once I arrived, I could see that she was ready with the uzi. I knocked on the window, and Julie opened it. This night, I covered all windows with wooden planks, right before I write this journal. I also told Julie that I was on the north east building, and that I could see her from there, but her respond was
"Of course I didn't see, I was trying my best to not get distracted. I want to live."
We didn't eat at all today, the hunger overcame me as I write, that's why I'm going to sleep now, and scavange more stuff tomorrow. We didn't even get the chance to look what goods does this house have.

Mike's Diary day 48 - "Merry Fucking Christmas"

Today is December 25th. The day when Jesus was born. I woke up and saw Lexi who was guarding the tent at the time.
     "Merry Christmas Kiddo" I said.
     "Hey you remember"
     "Of course I do."
I got up and I went towards her and gave her a necklace
     "Here"
"You shouldn't have." She said to me.
     "That‘s my sister's."
I got up and told HR to pack up. I packed my things up and helped lexi to do her stuff. We are going to head towards the church and wait for Victor, jess, and Jack to catch up with us. I really wish that they are okay and none gets injured, or died.
We walked for s couple more miles, and here we are in the front gate of this magnificent building. The gates are gold, the walls are ceramics, the smell of rust overlapping the smell of dirt and corpses.
     "Let me Go in first."
"Careful, we don't need another dead man." She said.
I walked inside when-- the wall collapse separating meandering Lexi.
     "MIKE." She almost yelled
"Lexi, ready your gun and wait untill I come back. I'll find another way around. You wait three find some place safe, those three will be here any minutes so just sit tight and wait for them. Once you see them, tell them to find me, I'll be waiting here inside the building. Merry Christmas." I said.

I turned around leaving Lexi behind, I just keep walking until I see craze. I crouched immediately, picked up a rock and threw it across the room in order to distract the craze.I took one of them out with my crowbar, but the more I proceed my way through the church, the more craze popping out. I finally found a ladder, I thought if I could use this to go to the attic, I could make my way out of this building and reunite with the others. Plus Lexi, I just don't want anything to happen to Lexi. I climbed my way to he attic, very dust, and I fucking hate it. Oh well what else can I do right? I proceed my way out of the attic and jumped down. Finally, there Lexi just sitting down waiting for me.
"Plan b, this place isn't safe, lets leave a note to them that say go to the building across, third floor." I said, and she nodded. I felt relieved when I saw Lexi was still alive.

We went to the building across, it was almost the same condition as the church so we decided to go together this time. We will not taking the risk of being separated again. We went onto the third floor when we saw more clowns. I decided to take 2 of them out, impulsively.
"Alright Lexi, we'll be watching and waiting for Jack and group from through third floor. We can watch every movement from the window, and yo--"
"You move you die" said one of the clowns who was holding Lexi as a hostage.
"Please don't. Do anything to her."
     "You've killed my friend."
"They were trying to kill us no LET HER GO!"
Before I had time to say anything else, th bullet from his glock pierced through Lexi's head and she dropped dead on the floor. I rushed toward the clown, took my crowbar out and started beating him. I beat him to his death and throw him off of the building. I sat there mourning or Lexi's lifeless body. I cried, screamed, and the rage within me took over. Why the he'll did I even do this in the first place. I fell empty, as if there is no purpose to my life anymore. Just in time. Those three reached me.
      "Mike..." Jack said.
I didn't say anything and walked away from Lexi. Sitting in the corner mourning, crying, yelling, like a mad man. Merry fucking Christmas.

Day 47

"Are you okay?" I asked Lexi.
     "Yes, but Victor..."
"Yeah I know. Go get some rest. You kicked ass though." I chuckled and gave her a hand gun.
"Now what." Said Jess who was taking care of Victor at the time. I looked to her, then glanced over to Jack. Oh I see you want revenge right Jack? Well it'd be better to do it after we deliver this thing don't you think? More guns, gather more people? Ask for Valors' help?
     "So Jack." I asked
"I'm going with or without you guys."
     "That's what I thought."
"You, guys be safe. I'm going tomorrow morning"
"No, everyone comes with you. I'll deliver this to valors myself."
"Mike WHAT THE FUCK!" Lexi yelled from across the room.
     "Language."
"Don't tell me that. I'm going with you." She responded. All I could do is let her be.

*NEXT MORNING*

Everybody wakes up, and is packing their stuff.
"Jack how far is it? Their base?" I asked
"Far enough. You two. We don't need two more dead people."
"And I don't need three." I said, then I continued, "you see that church? The one over the mountain. We'll be there in 2 days. Try to catch up if you can. If you can't, turn back to base or go to this address." I handed him a copy o the address. Then we went on our own ways. Me and Lexi walked, far, far enough for her to collapse and just sit down in the middle of the muddy road to take a rest. It's not yet evening, but since winter is approaching, it gets pretty dark.
"You haven't answered my question. What happened to you before you met me." I asked
"I was with my aunt. But you know, shit went down. I try to survive, blablabla, 5 days later, you found me." She answered. "Yourself?"
"Me?" I asked "well, had a family once. They all dead."
     "I'm sorry."
     "Me too."
I got her up and we continue walking. Craze here and there but they don't even bother us anymore, we tried our best to be unseen. Uzi in my right hand, a revolver in Lexi's. Lexi for some reason doesn't complain that much during the trip. You're a tough little kid for your age kiddo. We walk until it was really dark, approximately 15 miles away from the church. We set up a tent, went in it, I'm staying up and she's sleeping. We'll take turn obviously. There's nothing else to do, so I decided to write this. Hopefully those three are just fine, and can meet up with us in two days in the church. I was so stupid not telling them what the signal is when we're near by because yelling and screaming out names just doesn't cut it. It'll bring us to our own deaths. Mike, you're so dumb.

Day 46 - "Separation"

Victor woke me up in the morning, man I must've been passed out for too long. I thought to myself. I opened my eyes (still blury), then I saw everybody was waiting for me to pack up. Well too tired, considering I lured the cutter off and drove the RV since forever. I thought again. I got up, went to the water cooler, grabbed a bottle, and washed my face with it. The rest is just walks for hours.
I walked slowly until I was walking parallel with Jack and said "Ever thought of dying?" I asked
     "Sometimes."
     "Are you scared?"
"Somewhat. We just don't know what's after death." He said, "you?"
     "What?" I asked
     "Scared?"
"No." I'm not scared of death. We were already doomed once we were born. I'm ready under any circumtances.
"Why bother to survive then?" Jack said while pointing his gun at me. I looked at him, then I smiled.
"There's always something you have to fight for. You don't give up, you want to make people who care about you happy" I said. Then we just kept walking until we went into suburbs. We went into one of the houses, scavanged for water, guns, or anything really. Nothing, then we went back out to head to a school. We were too late, the student clinic was already been looted FUCK! I thought. Then, when we went outside, there were survivors, weird ones, they have some kind of dress code (red top, blue pants).
"What do we have here?" Said the leader
     "Survivors." I said
"And who's that little girl?" He waved at Lexi
"I'm none of your GODDAMN business!" Lexi said
"Whoa ho ho! Terrifying." Said the leader. I saw Victor's finger was on the trigger ready to pull, I looked at Jack who was anxious as if he was saying (just kill these motherfuckers) and also ready. In the matter of mili second, we all spread out, and BANG BANG BOOM! Gunfights.   There were too many of them so I decided to retreat. I led the way, Lexi, Jess, Victor, and J-- I looked back and he was pinned down. Oh great. I told the rest three to run towards the blue roofed dorm and wait for me and Jack there. I went back for Jack, and opened fire, Jack ran towards me when his right thigh  gets shot. He was limping, towards me, I supported him with my own body, then we rushed for the building beside the school. We managed to hide, but we won't be risking our lives going back outside, especially when I have a man down with me. I gotta do something. I rushed to the first aid box, took out a bottle of alcohol, dipped my knife into it, heat it up, and gave a small wooden spoon to Jack.
"Bite on this. It's going to be hurt." I said, he nodded. Slash,, I sunk my knife into his thigh, blood splattered, I dug my finger in his flesh, and took the bullet out. He was moaning in pain, but when it all ends, he managed to say thanks. I tied a cloth to stop the bleeding, gave him my water, and take a rest. He's now asleep, hope nothing happened to those three in the dorm.

Day 42 Valors. -Mike's Diary

I went and talked to my brother, he seems so disappointed, yet relieved that I talked to him. Then he said "Fine,, but I want you to keep an eye on jack. Sure you guys can farm, just don't mess everything up. And Mike, you're in charge."
In my mind, I was so happy that I have solved another conflict in this base, I feel more useful than I ever before. I walked up to Jack when he seemed to be doing something in his room, and told him the good news. And sure enough, e was happy. I told him I was in charge and  I want him to do whatever the hell he wants about the garden at the bak, hence I know no shit about gardening.
That evening I decided to go on a run to gather some antibiotics and some seeds for Jack, so that he can start on the garden as soon as possible. There was something odd about this town though, all the walls were stamped with the word "Valors" I wonder what it means. In about 30 mins trough my run, I encountered another base of survivors, I didn't want them to know my existence because it'd mean more wars between groups, so I decided to leave. On the way back, I encountered 2 guys, and their sweaters say "Valors". So that's what it means. Surprisingly, they didn't threatened me, in fact they offered me a deal, a good deal. They would give me food and more weapons, but I have to deliver something to the other branch of Valors across the province. I took the deal.
I said that I'd get going tomorrow with  5 other survivors. The night when I got home, I saw someone was standing in the dark, it was Lexi. I told her that we'll be going somewhere tomorrow with Jack, Jessie, and Victor. She said okay, and she told Victor and Jessie the same thing, but she didn't even bother asking why and where. After I finished talking to Lexi, I decide to break the news to Jack, sure enough he didn't seem to like the idea of the deal thing. Oh well, what can I say. I told him that we are going across the province, and it made him insist more to not going. I was upset for sure but I didn't wanna show it, then I said "If you change your mind, meet us by the front gate tomorrow morning 6 o'clock sharp." Then I left. That night, I packed everything from food, clothes, first aid, and guns, then I sleep while wondering what kind of "package" that we have to deliver such that they would give us huge amount of resources.

Mike's Diary - Day 41 "Not so Useless Afterall"

I saw Jack, my face was busted. After Jack unchained me, I told him to get the old guy (whoever he is) and told jack to carry him to our base. Before I walked outside, I spat my blood on the floor right beside the villain's body and whispered
"I fucking told you he'd come."

Those two days outside base was exhausting. Very exhausting. I woke up from my long sleep, my body was aching, still is; however, i got my wound patched up (whoever did it, thanks.) I got up and stumbled my way out of my dusty small room and beat my way through the small gloomy hallway. I went outside and I saw people, guard mostly are keeping our base away from craze and other raiders. From afar, I could spot Jack was walking towards me.
       "Thanks." I said to him
       "No biggie, Lexi was worrying."
       "I know." I responded.
"I need to talk to you." He said
       "About what?"
       "Your brother, and your base."
       "What about them?"
"We had a conflict, I wanted to plant some trees, and vegetables, but your brother only cares about defense. We argued and he tried to hit me but I blocked it. Never talked to him since." He  explained
"He is my brother. He built this base long before we came. Defense is important, but you do have a good point. I'll talk to him when I see him. Where's Lexi?" I said
"Playing with the others, yeah I guess I can't say much, I have to get going, get your ass out of trouble, you got two holes already, you dont need more bullet holes." He responded

I chuckled "Ohh, mind if you help Jessie sorting the firearms? Thanks Jack."

I went to Lexi and her friends, she ran up to me and asked if I was okay and told me that I'm stupid going off alone. And the old guy, she asked. I couldn't care less, he's still sleeping, he saved my ass after all, and shit I forgot to ask Jack who the old guy is. Lexi just starred at me and said
"This is bullshit Mike, I don't wanna play with other girls, I wanna help. Teach me something new, join the the crew to gather supplies, all that stuff."
"Well why not start with helping Jack and Jessie with the firearms?" I asked. She smiled, biggest smile she has ever given me since i was gone for 2 days. Then she ran away, and she left me here, alone, peacefully, writing on my journal.
